Brief Bio

Hart's Asleep is a solo project belonging to Joshua Hart that has been in development since 2007. The idea and sound began as a means of self treatment for Joshua's chronic insomnia. After months of sleepless nights he began searching for music that would be of aid in delivering him into sleep each night.

Despite the vast number of sub-genre's belonging to the Ambient music category, he was unable to find the precise sound he imagined in his mind as being what he needed to hear. Thus, he began studying the creative process of materializing abstract ideas into tangible sounds, or more precisely - music.

The power of music in film has been paramount in his musical development. His favorite example being the final scene of David Lynch’s “The Elephant Man” when Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” begins, he says is a testament to just how far above and
beyond music can elevate moving pictures. Citing influences from the likes of Philip Glass, James Horner, and Ludovico Einaudi (among many other modern composers) as well as numerous artist's in other non-conventional genres varying from Diary of Dreams to Dark Sanctuary, all the while retaining immense respect for the immortal and timeless works of Johan Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, and as prior mentioned, Samuel Barber, Joshua continues to be enamored with the marriage of film and music, and ultimately hopes to put forth his own contributions into that truly special relationship.

After a couple of years time honing his craft via extensive practice and diligent research he began to feel comfortable with the idea of sharing his creations with others, going beyond simply viewing them as his own personal means of self-help. Thanks to overwhelming praise and encouragement from his friends, in March, 2009, he began making his works available to the general public, believing that there could be an audience of people similar to himself who may be able to enjoy or benefit from his efforts.
